Face shapes
Heart face shape
Wide forehead and cheekbones narrowing into a pointed chin. Sometimes called inverted triangle.
What a heart-shaped face is
The forehead and cheekbones are the widest part and the face narrows noticeably towards the jaw, ending in a pointed chin. A widow's peak or a wider hairline is common but not required.
How to tell
- The forehead is as wide as, or wider than, the cheekbones.
- The jawline narrows sharply.
- The chin is pointed rather than flat.
- The hairline may form a subtle peak in the middle.
Hairstyles
- Volume at jaw level and a side-swept fringe balance the wide forehead.
- Height on the crown makes the top look even wider.
- Chin-length cuts that flick outwards add width where the face is narrow.
Glasses
- Bottom-heavy, rimless or aviator frames put weight lower on the face.
- Oversized cat-eye frames emphasise the narrow chin.
Beard and facial hair
A fuller beard at the chin adds width to the narrowest part of the face. Keep the cheeks trimmed so the beard doesn't widen the forehead side.
